Change these 2 habits and you will never gain weight

If you're trying to lose weight, you're more focused on what you eat rather than where and how you eat. But according to a new study from Ohio State University, the component of your meal may be even more important than how often you eat.

According to the research, people who don't watch TV while eating are 37 percent less likely to be obese compared to people who were always glued to screens during dinner.

What's more, people who always cooked meals at home had a 26 percent lower risk of obesity than people who ate little or no home-cooked meals. The study found that those who always cooked at home and never ate in front of the TV had a 47 percent lower risk of obesity.

Although researchers have not been able to prove cause-and-effect, because recent studies show that both can play an important role in weight control.

First, eating in front of the TV drowns out the sound of you chewing, which can lead to overeating, according to research from Brigham Young and Colorado universities.

So tune into your food instead of the TV, researchers say. The more you focus on absorbing food, the less likely you are to eat more.

Also, people who prepare meals at home tend to consume fewer calories, fats and sugar, according to a study from Johns Hopkins University. You're less likely to resort to frozen foods and fast food.

So even if you don't usually spend a lot of time in the kitchen, try still cooking meals at home so you know exactly what your food is made of.
